Limbs and Leaves Information

Yard Debris Disposal Reminder

The Town would like to remind residents that when using landscapers or hired help for yard work, the disposal of any resulting yard debris is the responsibility of the contractor—not the Town. Please ensure that your service provider removes and properly disposes of all debris generated during their work.

Additionally, for residents utilizing Town collection services, all yard debris must be prepared properly for pickup:

  • Limbs and leaves must be placed in separate piles
  • Debris should be free of excessive dirt, rocks, or other non-organic materials

Following these guidelines helps our crews operate efficiently and ensures timely service for all residents.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community clean and well-maintained.

If you have limbs and/ or leaves that need to be picked up there are several things you should know.

1. Limbs and Leaves are typically picked up on Monday's and Friday's as weather allows.

2. If you pay a friend or a landscaping company to clean your yard, THEY are responsible for debris removal. If they cut a tree or bushes, rake or mow, and have yard debris, it is their responsibility to take care of removing the debris.

3. If you do your own work, DO NOT mix leaves with sticks, twigs, and branches. The public works department has a leaf truck that actually sucks the leaves up like a vacuum. It cannot get them up if they are mixed in with other yard debris. The limb truck is designed to chip the limbs into small pieces so it makes a huge mess if there are leaves mixed in.

4. Please place limbs with the cut ends toward the road, separate from the leaf pile. Remove as much dirt as possible from these piles due to the machine clogging and needing frequent repairs.
